Where are the long life wiper blades?
My search for the long life wiper blades that last longer than a season continues. I am totally disappointed that there is not a wiper material that can last longer than one rainy season. Materials have gotten better, it would seem that someone would have developed a long-lasting wiper blade.
In the following video, the guy makes a statement that his wipers have lasted for six years. He talks about silicone wiper blades. Maybe this is where the search will end.
Important points from the video for longevity
- Clean your wiper blades
- Use denatured alcohol as the cleaning agent
- Clean with a cloth/towel until no black comes off the wiper blade.

Don’t want to buy new blades try this trick. I tried it. It definitely changes the angle. The wipers were dirty. I cleaned them with a household cleaner. I used an old towel to wipe them clean until there was no black coming off the blade. The wiper did clean better afterward but I can’t say that the angle was the fix or if the blade being clean was the fix. But if you follow the logic an angle change would only change when the wiper cleans and when it skips. So if it skips on the upward stroke it should skip on the downward stroke after you flip the wiper.
Maybe a windshield repellent/treatment may be the best thing.
So the search continues and the question is the same: Where are the long life wiper blades?
