The Texas Roadhouse Experience
The Texas Roadhouse was on our radar. My wife had an appointment. We needed to travel for that appointment. We live in the central valley and she needed to be in Palo Alto for the appointment. That’s in the south bay area. And as usual, we needed to stop somewhere for a bite to eat.
We had eaten at the Texas Road House on an earlier trip where we had been given a card for a free appetizer. We had been sitting on this card for what seemed like 6 months. So today became the day that we cashed in on the free appetizer.
As we made our way back from the appointment it grew quite late. We arrived at the Texas Roadhouse in Tracy, Ca. about 6:30 pm. The parking lot was a shark fest. We made a full circle three times always missing the open parking space by the 4-5 cars ahead of us. So close! I had just about given up. Could we find a spot before I perished from hunger?
I had just about given up. We had almost finished round number four when there it was, an empty spot with no one near to provide competition. We pulled into “our spot” and celebrated not having to go on round number five.
Our Wait Staff
We checked in and were informed that the wait time was going to be about 10-15 minutes. Not bad for a full parking lot. And they were right. We sat down in 10 minutes. Our wait staff person was Courtney. She was very informative. Courtney helped us figure out how to use the card to it’s best advantage. Now you need to know that it is peak dinner time and her tables were probably full. But she found the time to get us up to speed on how the free appetizer card would work.
Questions, Questions
We hadn’t counted on buying an entree but we found out it was part of the condition needed to qualify. So I had to figure out what I wanted. I picked my entree, I made a decision, I’m so proud. Then Courtney shows up and lets us know that there are 2 sides that go with the entree. “Courtney, what are the beans like, hot or sweet?” Also, I have to pick a gravy. “Courtney, you mean I have to choose a gravy? Which is the most savory gravy, brown or cream?”
More decisions yay??? Well, I need more time, oh by the way, “Courtney, can we have some more rolls?” Poor Courtney saddled with us. Finally, I knew what we wanted, what sides went with the entree, what gravy to top my chicken fried chicken and what appetizers we needed. Courtney asked if I wanted a refill on my soda?
I know why I would not want to wait tables, the worst part would be having to deal with…..me! Our appetizers arrive and there’s a small hiccup with the entree. My fault, I switched halfway upstream and it got confusing. Courtney had straightened out the order. She came back and let us know what had happened. I should have ordered it to go. After we ate the rolls, soda, and appetizers there was no room left. I did taste it and it was all that I was expecting. “Courtney, can we have some to go containers?” My wife was elated. There was enough food leftover that she would not have to cook for the following day.
What to Expect
We had a good time dining at the Texas Roadhouse in Tracy, Ca. not only because the food is good and plentiful but because Courtney took the time to “train” some newbies on how The Texas Roadhouse works. My wife and I appreciated her patience.
When we walked into the Texas Roadhouse I was not going to do a post on this eating experience because we were going to just have appetizers. But with all the trouble we put Courtney thru she provided a great experience and something to write about. If she is an example of the wait staff at the Texas Roadhouse you can expect a great experience when you drop by.
When we finished our meal I introduced myself as the owner of this website and asked if I could take photos. Above are Courtney and Sam the Owner/Manager of the Tracy, Ca. Texas Roadhouse. If you see them say hey for me and prepare for a good meal served right.
