The Best Stud Removal Tool

Do you have a broken stud? Do you need to remove a bolt? This is the best stud removal tool for you. I bought one of these things when working as a mechanic. We needed to pull broken studs out of engine blocks or heads often. No matter where the stud was this tool always did the job.

A Pipe Wrench

I didn’t know that it was a “pipe wrench” until very recently. My boss at that time was a German master mechanic and it was he that suggested I buy it. I had never seen anything like it. I knew of various styles of stud removers but this one was unique. A traveling tool salesman sold me it to me as a stud remover. At that time I didn’t know that I would be buying a stud remover like no other. This tool worked so well that within a short time it became the tool to use to remove studs.

How It Works

Stud removing requires that the tool locks onto the stud or bolt. Then turned while locked onto it. Vise grips can be effective at stud removal. Provided, the stud is not too stubborn. The failure occurs because the resistance is greater than the ability of the tool to grip the stud then slippage occurs. The vise grip tool grips with a force and that force does not change(increase or decrease).

This tool does something that I believe its design encourages. The grip increases the harder that you push on the handle. The more you push the greater the gripping force becomes. Failure due to slippage removing a stud or a stuck bolt with this tool has never happened.

The Swedish Wrench

Welcome to the Swedish Wrench-S Shape. The tool is not bulky. It is slightly larger than a set of “channel lock” pliers. So if you’re thinking a Stillson pipe wrench this is not it. There are two designs for the jaw shape. I have the S shape jaw tool, not the version with the parallel jaws.

So if you’re looking for a no-fail stud remover this is the tool for you.
