Keeping Homemade Brownies Soft
Keeping homemade brownies soft after you’ve baked them is pretty easy if you know the secret.
My wife decided that we needed homemade brownie sundaes for dessert. Now my wife’s definition of homemade in my house means that if we bake them at home they are homemade even if they come out of a box. This is especially important to me as I am a diabetic and having a no sugar added brownie mix in the pantry is always a must.
Crunchy Edges
However, when I bake a batch of the brownies the outside edge of the brownies is always crunchy. I learned to live with that if I wanted brownies. That was until just recently when I stumbled onto the secret to keeping homemade brownies soft.
Now back to the story, my wife asked me to cut and store the brownies for the upcoming dinner dessert. So I cut the brownies in the pan in order to move them to their storage container. As usual, the outside edges were crunchy. My container was small so I was going to have to stack them higher than a single layer. Since I didn’t want them to stick to each other I thought that wax paper would be a good barrier and prevent the brownies from sticking to each other.
The Fix
So a simple layer of wax paper between the layers was placed on the brownies and the plastic container sealed up. After a couple of hours, the brownies were brought out for dessert. I noticed that the edges didn’t seem to be as crisp as they were when I put them in the container. Oh well, I notched it up to just hopeful thinking. The following day when I reached in that container the full effects became evident. The outside edges were soft. Not just a little bit but I mean really soft, just like the rest of the brownie. All because of a little bit of wax paper.
If you try this method come on back and comment and let me know how it worked for you, I’d like to know if it worked as well for you as it did for me.
