Cracking Lowe’s Discount Codes
Cracking Lowe’s discount codes was something I stumbled across recently. Let me explain. I was looking at upgrading my shelving system for my shed. It currently does not have enough shelves to store all the stuff I have. I had recently found a pair of loppers(they had been missing for six months) under a roll of insulation on the shed floor.
That was the turning point for new shelving units. So I was looking at the three big box stores for whatever they are serving up. I had already done my homework and had measured out my location so I had a notion about what length, width, and height I would need to fill.
How the trouble began
I had spent the better part of the morning looking at all the available options. Some proved to be dead ends. The shelving units were not sold in my area and I could not get them shipped to me. I had it boiled down to Lowe’s and a brand called Blue hawk. They would fit the area well. I had them in the cart and ready to pull the trigger when it dawned on me to look for a code. Heck, I have to spend the money so why not get the best price I can get. That started the trouble.
Find that code
I went to my goto site for codes and found a heck of a code on just what I was looking for. It was even better because the unit was deeper than what I was looking at purchasing. The discounted price(nearly 20%) put it very near the same price as a unit from the same manufacturer in my cart.
So I tried to apply the code and it would open the Lowe’s window on the item but the price would not be reduced. I checked the cart to see if it was reduced in the cart. No change. I closed the site to clear the cart. Again it was not reducing the price. After that, I went on to live chat and explained my problem. I was directed to a customer service number.
On to customer service
I talked to the customer service rep and explained the situation as best as I could. How the fact that the code site said no code was needed, how the opened window did not reduce the price, how I believed that I should get the reduced price as the code was supposed to be good for another two and a half weeks before expiring. The rep went away to find the answer and when she came back boy was it an answer I did not expect.
Not what I expected
She explained that when Lowe’s puts out a code there are two kinds of codes. There are codes that do not have numbers and there are codes that do have numbers. This is an important thing to know. If you know this you will know how to handle the codes. It seems that the codes without numbers are for in-store purchases only. So if you go to your favorite code website and find a Lowe’s code with no numbers you are going to take a ride to the local store to use it. It doesn’t work for an online purchase because there is no number. That’s the secret to cracking Lowe’s discount codes.
One final update
I have to add this last tidbit of information. This suggestion is from a Lowes employee. I explained the situation to him about the no-number codes. He suggested that I avoid at all costs the regular checkout aisles. He suggested that I go straight to the customer service desk as they would be more aware of how to handle the no-number codes. I did as he suggested and he was right. They worked with me and smoothed the way to getting my discount with no problem at all. I do have to tell you that I printed out all pertinent information from Lowe’s website. Along with the information from the discount code website along with the expiration date of the coupon code.
