Drip System Repair Kit
Setting up a drip system repair kit is essential. Most of the parts tend to be rather small. Tools to repair the system and all the replacement parts in one place is a no-brainer. So I have found that a good collection of 1/2″ couplers will take care of the main line getting cut. Spare sprinklers and the parts to repair them are also needed. A good amount of barb connectors in the toolkit is a good thing. A hundred goof plugs will keep that system leak free when you decide to move your sprinkler emitters. But I get ahead of myself.
A storage container for the small parts
A couple of hundred parts with no place to store them is ridiculous. So let’s find a container for these small parts and then let’s fill it. I like this kind of container. It’s small I can take it to the job site and pull out whatever I need to do the repair. The dividers are adjustable. if I need more room for a particular part I can adjust the bins. But not everything will fit in this container. So a larger container that will hold the larger parts(like sprinklers with stakes) and this small bin make up the system.
A Bin for the large parts
This larger bin in my system is a 10-gallon capacity tote. It holds the roll of small hose(1/4″). Also, it houses the old parts that I will reuse or cannibalize to make repairs. It has all of my larger new parts like new sprinklers with stakes and all of the connector parts for the 1/2″ hose.
Now to fill the small storage bin. I have a few pots that I use the drip system to feed. So I use tee shaped barb connectors to build a ring to feed water in the pot. I don’t use very many. The one part that I found that I have used the most in repairs is the barbed connector. These get broken regularly as clockwork. So I would recommend a large quantity of this parts. Some spare sprinklers and flag emitters also are needed.
So let’s make a list.
